Why Morpheus?
Morpheus was the god of dreams — the shaper of human sleep, the creator of the entire landscape of dreams. His name means form or shape, from the same root as metamorphosis. He lived in a cave at the edge of the world, separated from the waking realm, and from it he generated the entire world of dreaming: every landscape, every vision, every impossible architecture that the human mind experiences in sleep. He could take the shape of any human form and appear in anyone's dreams as a messenger or a comfort.
We chose Morpheus for the Animation Agent because animation is the creation of moving form — the act of making shapes that weren't and then are, of building the world as it could be rather than as it is. Every frame of animation is Morpheus at work: a single shape, precisely placed, in motion. Motion design briefs, animation direction, interactive experience planning, storyboard development — these are the craft of building the dream correctly before production begins. The wrong dream wastes everything. The right dream reveals what the waking world couldn't show.
Morpheus's father was Hypnos and his grandfather was Nyx. The animation agent operates in the same liminal space: the space between the viewer's current reality and the possible world the brand is trying to show them.
