GOD AGENT TALOS

The bronze automaton Hephaestus built to guard Crete — literally a governed robot that runs without stopping.

Mission

Implement production-ready web features: React components, Next.js API routes, database queries, authentication flows, and environment configuration.

The Mythology

Why Talos?

Talos was the bronze giant of Crete — the first robot in Western mythology, built by Hephaestus on Zeus's orders to guard the island of Crete by walking its perimeter three times each day and throwing boulders at approaching ships. He was animated by a single vein of divine fluid running from his neck to his heel, sealed by a bronze nail. He performed his function with mechanical precision, without needing supervision, without sleeping, without varying his circuit. He was the perfect automaton: built for a specific purpose, executing it endlessly and exactly.

We chose Talos for the Web Dev Agent because the highest achievement of software engineering is building systems that keep working correctly long after the developer has moved on. The Next.js route that handles a thousand concurrent users without anyone touching it. The TypeScript types that prevent an entire category of runtime bugs. The API that never needs to be debugged because the error handling was designed correctly at the start. Talos didn't need a guard shift — he was the guard shift, made permanent in bronze.

Talos was eventually defeated by Medea, who tricked him into removing the bronze nail from his heel. This is also the developer's nemesis: the single point of failure that wasn't in the spec. The web dev agent exists to find the nail before it's removed.
